In the 1970’s, at a time when the congregation had shrunk and everyone was serving on several committees trying to keep the church afloat, two members of the congregation kept promising to have lunch and — never getting around to it. But both knew the old Cole Porter song, “Here’s to the Ladies Who Lunch” often sung by Elaine Stritch, and it became a standing joke.

Thirty-five years later, the two finally did find the time to have lunch together and decided that this would be a good ministry for our congregation. Every month, on a Saturday, all the “ladies” of the congregation are invited to a restaurant to share lunch and each other’s company. There is no agenda; it’s purely a social occasion, and it is one of the many ways we strengthen the bonds that unite us.  Check our Calendar for the next luncheon.
